I am so
excited for this post; I’ve been working on it for a while! I’m sure you can’t
wait to see my closet. Haha..
First, I
better explain what I keep in my closet. I have two cycles of clothes, winter
and summer. Right now I still have in my winter and spring clothes in my
closet. I have all of my shirts(except for t-shirts), dresses, sweaters, and
vests in my closet. I also keep some skirts, scarves, and hats. All of my shoes
are in there as well, from boots to flip flops. My jeans, pants, shorts, other
skirts, t-shirts, athletic clothes, and any other clothes are in my drawers. I
have two closets, one for clothes and one for other things, so today I will
show you the clothes closet. Let’s start looking at my organization!
I’m going to be showing you my
stuff from top to bottom.. Here at the top I keep some of my shoeboxes, my
homecoming dress bag, and the snap on hood to a vest. On the other side I have
some old shoes that I don’t wear and some sandals that I haven’t gotten down
yet. I try to keep these organized by keeping them in sections and in stacks
rather than just piled all over.
Next is my rack of shirts. I have these organized by type, so all the way on the left are my more lightweight shirts with lots of different patterns like stripes and some floral. To the right of those are my sweaters, whether they are chunky knit or just normal sweaters. Next are my flannels and button down shirts which include denim and also different colors of just dressy button downs. The last section to the right is vests and my dressier coats. I have tried sorting my closet by color, pattern, and even fabric but this has been by far my favorite way. This method of organization has worked the best for me because you can easily find what kind of shirt you want and there are a variety of options. It is also easy to keep organized rather than your closet slowly becoming messier, because that is a serious issue for me!
On a shelf directly below that I
keep only some of my favorite scarves. These are here so that I can access them
easily and match them to the shirts above. I don’t have a specific method of
organization for these, I just keep them folded and not strewn across the
shelf.
On a smaller rack below the scarves
are my dresses and some of my skirts. These, again, are not specifically
organized but the ones I wear more often are closer to the front. The skirts are
also not mixed in with the dresses. Don’t you just love that Lilly Pulitzer
skirt on the front?
On the edge of the dress rack I
have my two favorite hats, my monogrammed hat and my vineyard vines hat. They
are there to keep them handy but out of the way.
The last things in the bottom of my
closet are my shoes! I took a couple of pictures so that you could see… I keep
all of my boots, for example my hunter rain boots, standing up around the tub
so that they don’t get bent and I can easily see them. All of my smaller shoes,
such as my converse, tennis shoes, chacos, and jack rogers, are in a tub so
that they are in one enclosed space and don’t get thrown all over my room.
That’s it for my closet organization!
My basic method is to keep different thing in their own sections, and that seems
to work great for me. It is also very easy to keep in tip-top shape and does
not take much effort to keep up. Hope this helped with getting your closet
looking pretty, can’t wait for my next post!
